Welcome to OCTOBER - represented by the gemstones Tourmaline and Opal and the flowers calendula and cosmos.
"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all" Stanley Horowitz
I think October is the month of the year that seems to bring about the most dramatic changes, save perhaps for April. Mother Nature changes her wardrobe as do we, what we eat even changes as we trend towards more comfort foods. (of course if you are in the Southern Hemisphere it would be the reverse. Our gardens change from bountiful to sparse, our footwear changes, even the coats on our pets and animals start to change.
In October we get set to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween. It is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the US and Canada.

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came,
The Ashes, Oaks and Maples,
And Leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand:
Miss Weather led the dancing;
Professor Wind, the band
The sight was like a rainbow
New Fallen from the sky.
